Hope Run FAQs

How much does the Hope Run cost?

Early bird registration - before July 22nd:

$25 adults (ages 18+)

$10 youth (ages 6-17)

Children ages 5 and under do not need registration.

Printable registration form: Early Bird Registration (form and payment may be dropped off at the clinic or mailed)

AFTER July 22nd:

$35 adults (ages 18+)

$20 youth (ages 6-17)

Registered participants receive an event shirt and runner bag with goodies while supplies last.

What time is the Hope Run?

The run/walk will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday August 10th

We recommend arriving early to park and get to the starting line. The registration area will open at 8:15 a.m. if you need to pick up your participant bag, submit offline donations or register.

We will stagger the release of runners & walkers slightly by course: 10K runner first, 5K runners, 5K walkers and 1K family fun run walkers.

Where will the Hope Run happen?

In-Person participation:

Minto-Brown Island Park, 2200 Minto Island Road SW, Salem OR 97302

You will see signs for the event as you enter the park. Please head toward parking lot 3 and watch for signs for the Hope Run

Parking is free.

Wherever you choose! You can submit your time following the instructions received via email. You have until August 19th to submit your time.

What are my course options?

In 2024, we are offering a variety of options: 

In-Person:

10k (6.2 mil) run; 5k (3.1 mi) run; 5k (3.1 mi) walk or 1k (0.62 mi) family fun run/walk

Virtual:

Run or walk your chosen distance at a location of your choosing, then submit your time by August 17th. Instructions for submitting your time/distance will be sent to you before August 10th. 

How do I get my shirt & runner bag?

Registered participants may pick up their runner packet, which includes your shirt and bib at Hope Pregnancy Clinic on either Thursday August 8th (4-7 p.m.) OR Friday August 9th (9 a.m. - 5 p.m.).

You may also pick up your runner packet at Minto Brown Park the day of the run, Saturday August 10th. The packet pick up area will open at 8:00 a.m. (Run begins at 9 a.m.)

Can my friends donate by check or cash?​

Yes! Please have checks made out to "Hope Pregnancy Clinic." You can keep track of your off-line donations with this form: Hope Run Donation Form  . 

Will my sponsors get a tax-deductible receipt? Yes - please be sure to give a complete and legible name and mailing address so we can mail a receipt to your sponsors. 

You can bring your donations by the clinic before the event or just bring them to the Registration area the morning of the Hope Run.

How can I register a friend or family member?

Visit the Hope Run page and click to REGISTER

Please remember that each runner/walker (ages 6 and up) needs to register to participate. Children ages 5 and under do not need to register. If you would like your child (5 and under) to have a shirt, they are available for purchase on the registration page. 

Register by July 22nd to ensure that you will receive a free event t-shirt.

I can't participate in the run/walk - how can I still be involved?

Thank you for supporting Hope! You can be involved in several ways:

        * If you aren't able to join us in person on August 10th, you can register for the Virtual event - this way you can run or walk your chosen distance at the time and location of your choice. You'll have from August 10th to August 19th to submit your time. 

        * Sponsor someone who is running/walking in the event

        * Invite your friends to support the event by running or donating. 

        * Share about our event far and wide!

Is this event child friendly?

Yes! We love to have families participate! Children ages 5 and under are free and can accompany you on the 5k run/walk or 1k family fun run. There is a play structure near the start/finish line and we will have balloons and face painting too.

Event t-shirts are available on the registration page in sizes 2T to 5/6. Shirts are $8.00

How can I get a shirt for my child under 5 yrs?

We will have child sizes (2T, 3T, 4T, 5/6) available for purchase. The shirts are $8.00 each. You can order children's shirts through the registration page. If you have any questions, please contact Beth at beth@hopeforsalem.org. All orders MUST be received by July 22nd.

Can I change my shirt size?

Yes - before July 22nd you can contact Beth Maurer at beth@hopeforsalem.org to change shirt size. After July 22nd, we are not able to guarantee shirt size changes or shirts for late registration.

What does a Team Captain do?

O Captain, my Captain! Being a team captain is easy!

Team captains recruit people to run or walk together, set a team fundraising goal and communicate with their team members. Easy! You can come up with a super cool name for your team and then be at the park a little early to pick up your team sign and meet up with your teammates.

On the registration form, just indicate that you are the team captain and list the team name (if you know it). You can share the Hope Run registration link and event donation link with your social networks to invite people to join you.

How can I set up a Team?

Ideally, teams will run/walk together on the 10th and will also fundraise together.

To create a team to run/walk togetherREGISTER as a runner or walker and mark the Team Captain box on the registration form. You will also come up with a team name here (this can be changed or added later if you need). Be sure to let your teammates know to enter either your name as team leader or the team name when they register. 

Fundraise together! Share the link to the donation page with your teammates and they can share it with their personal network. Remind them to include the team name so the donations are included in your team's fundraising total. You can also download a print copy of the Donation Collection  form to fundraise in person.

How can I invite team members?

Once you have registered as a team leader, inviting people to join your team is easy! All it takes is two links and your teammates are ready to go. 

First, your team members need to REGISTER as a runner/walker - be sure to have them include your team name on the form.

Second, be sure your team members have either the link to the Hope Run Donation page (don't forget to tell them the team name) or download the Donation Collection form. 

BE SURE to tell your teammates that they need to REGISTER as a runner/walker (they can include your team name on their registration form) and then they can start fundraising to meet your team goal.

How do I join a team?

If you know what team you are wanting to join, be sure to get the team name or the team captain's name.

Head to the Hope Run page and register as a runner or walker - you can note the team or captain name on your registration form. 

How can I share this event?

Easy! You can visit our event page on Facebook and share or email the link for the Hope Run to your friends.

We would love to have you share our event with your friends, family, and social networks. Every dollar raised helps to provide free services and support to women and babies in our community.

What is Hope Pregnancy Clinic's mission?

Hope Pregnancy Clinic exists to empower women who are unprepared for pregnancy to make healthy, life-affirming decisions, and to introduce them to Jesus.

What do event volunteers do?

To make this event successful and run smoothly, we need 60 to 70 volunteers.

Before the event, volunteers help distribute yard signs and posters, and help prep participant bags.

On the day of the event, volunteers are needed for the following:

      * On the course to encourage/cheer participants and make sure they are heading in the right direction

      * Help with set up

      * Parking lot assistants

      * Face painting/balloons
